About Langston Hughes

Langston Hughes (1902-1967) was an African-American poet, social activist, novelist, playwright and columnist who is best known as the leader of the Harlem Renaissance in New York City. He was one of the earliest innovators of the then-new literary art form called jazz poetry. His writing comprises poems, novels, short stories, plays, non-fiction and even stories for children. His most popular poems include 'The Weary Blues', 'Let America Be American Again', 'My People', 'Freedom's Plow', and so on.
