Hector Hugh Munroe, better known by the pen name Saki and also known as H. H. Munroe was a British writer. His witty and mischievous stories satirize society and culture. He was considered as the master of short stories and often compared to O' Henry. He was influenced by Oscar Wilde and Rudyard Kipling.
He was born on 18th December 1870 at British Burma. He died at the age of 45 on 14th November 1916 in France. Saki was the son of an Inspector General who worked for the Indian Imperial Police. After his mother's death, two years old Hector travelled to England. Here, later on, he started his living as a writer.
