William Sydney Porter (1862-1910), better known by his pen name O Henry, was a prolific American short-story writer who was best remembered for his witty narration and surprise endings. He was often called America's answer to Guy de Maupassant. His most famous short stories include 'The Ransom of Red chief', 'A Retrieved Information', 'The Gift of the Magi', 'The Caballero's Way', and so on.
