Soriano also read aloud to children. he began with seventy books and went on to get get a few thousand. Even after he lost a leg in an accident, he did not stop. His false leg made it difficult to get on to a donkey's back, but Soriano managed it- his library did not come to a standstill.

Soriano thinks children are excited by books. He himself got a collage degree by studying with a professor who visited his village twice a month. One of Soriano's students, a girl called Maria, grew up to be the librarian in a school. She is an example of how books can change people's lives. Soriano has compared his work to sowing seeds.
