Read this passage carefully and answer the questions.
Once upon a time,a woodcutter struck a tree which happened to be the home of a fairy. At the first blow, the fairy, came out of the tree and asked him to leave his house alone.
The woodcutter had no wish to inconvenience the fairy, so he agreed. Pleased, the fairy said, "The next three wishes you and your wife make shall come true, and that is your reward."
When the man went back to his house, he and his wife thought of many things they would like to have−a bag of gold, a big house to live in,fine clothes to wear... but nothing seemed just right. They talked so long that they grew hungry. "I wish we had that pie you used to make," said the man.
No sooner had he spoken than a pie fell down before him.
"Oh, how foolish you are!" cried his wife. "There's one of our wishes wasted.
I wish the pie were stuck on your nose ! It would serve you right !"
The moment she said this, the pie flew up and stuck to the man's nose.
The man pulled and tugged, and his wife pulled and tugged, but it was of no use.
"We'll have to wish it off", said the man.
"We only have one wish left!" wailed his wife. "We can't waste it! Let's wish ourselves the richest people in the world."
But the man was adamant. "I wish the pie was off my nose", he said, and that was the third wish. So all they got out of the fairy's gift was a pie for dinner; but it was the best pie they had ever eaten.
"After all", said the man, "there's nothing better to wish for than a full stomach."
