Nannwrl, Wolfgaang Mozart's sister, was to begin her first music lessons form their father.
"I want to learn music too," broke in Mozart, looking at his father with shining eyes.
"You have to grow a few more inches before you can reach the keys, my son!" laughed his father. Mozart was three years old then.
The lesson began. As Nannerl concentrated on her lessons, nobody noticed young Mozart. He stood next to his sister and watched closely. His eyes never left Nannerl's fingers as they felt and searched for the keys on the piano. When Nannerl left the piano, Mozert slipped into her place. His tiny fingers tried to repeat what his father had taught his sister. When he searched and found the different chords, his face beamed with joy. In a short while, he was able to play the simple exercises given to his sister. His parents listened in wonder and astonishment. They were moved at the boy's effort.
"It is plain to see that Wolfgang must have lessons with his sister," said Mozart's father, who was a good musician hiimself. "What a joy it will b to teach them both!" he cried.
By age five, Mozart was already composing little pieces which he played to hiss father. Hos father wrote them down. By the time Mozert was seventeen, he had become a famous composer and musician.
