Dhruv was playing with a bar magnet when it fell and broke into two pieces. The original (unbroken) magnet had the north pole marked on it as 'N'. Dhruv knows that in a magnet, like poles repel each other and unlike poles attract each other. Using this principle, Dhruv figures out the magnetic poles of the two broken pieces. Which of the options given below do you think is correct? Let us call the broken piece with the north pole marked as piece A and the other piece as B.

    1. Both A and B contain north and south Poles. In Piece A, the edge labeled 'N' is the north pole and the opposite edge is the south pole. The edge of piece B, which repels the north pole of A,  is the south pole and the opposite edge is the north pole.
    2. Both A and B contain north and south Poles. In Piece A, the edge labeled 'N' is the north pole and the opposite edge is the south pole. The edge of piece B, which repels the north pole of A, is the north pole and the opposite edge is the south pole.
