One night, Nasruddin was drawing water from his well. He looked down. He saw the reflection of the moon in the water. Nasruddin was worried. He thought the moon had fallen down. Everyone would blame him. He wanted to pull the moon out. He tied a hook to the rope. He let down the rope.
When he thought he had hooked the moon, he pulled the rope. The hook did not come up. It had got caught under a stone at bottom of the well. It was difficult puling the rope. Nasruddin pulled and pulled. Suddenly, the hook came off the stone. Nasruddin fell fell down flat on his back. When he looked up at the sky, he said, "God be praised. It was a great effort. I have put the moon back where it belongs."
