Balloon Seller

Gentle thump on the car window,
With a hand while holding balloons in another,
Faint eyes burrowing in sockets so weak,
Entreating you to buy just one piece.

Little did  I notice yet another small one,
Holding the brim of her skirt, marred with starving.
Yet curious in her look, may not know what,
Her sister sells, but knows that some food is awaited.

Her hand making a mark on the foggy window,
She, drenched in the shower so strong,
Makes an appeal a second time with an eager heart,
Her voice, though fell flat on glass wall, I hear her need.

No, not a beggar, a buoyant vendor is she,
Strong willed and atmanirbhar daughter,
Shouldering a family, their hopes and dreams,
Feeder, cheerleader, armour and shield.
The rain thins down, red of yonder light moves to green,
The hooting and honking of cars are louder than before,
A droplet running down her cheek may have the hint of a tear,
And my fingers griped for money in the console.

Charity, the true deposit for the life beyond,
Flashes before you taste of hunger and figure of vagrants,
Respect the palms stretched unceasingly,
Delay not, alms (almz) never diminish your wealth.
