Literature is the zenith of human civilization and culture. Where there is no existence of poetry, the cultural well goes dry. All the races in the world are richly blessed with the wealth of poetry. In this regard, if we look at the ancient Indian cultural history, it gives immense pleasure, that its poetic treasure is enriched by all, irrespective of race, caste, creed, everyone has given its contribution to it. As a pleasant addition to this proud tradition, if Engineer Saiyed Anwar Jamal comes forth with his collection of poetry “Parwaze Hayat” in front of his readers then it is no surprise! But no, it is worth wondering, because the profession/field he comes from, there is no scope for existence of poetry and literature. But the truth of the matter is that nothing is impossible for creativity.

Circumstances and hardships cannot hinder human creativity.

Hence, Anwar Jamal took out considerable amount of precious time from his busy schedule to create poetry and enriched the literary world. His collection “Parwaze Hayat” is true to its name and holds a variety of poetry such as ghazal, nazm, geet, hamd and naat. One wonders how such a busy person took out time for such creativity because an engineer’s mind is pretty complicated;  it remains lost in the petrous terrains with hostile environment for survival of any pleasurable feeling but here the situation is contrary. The reader can never imagine that the collection has originated from a person who belongs to a field which has no place for expression of beautiful thoughts and feelings. Despite being unacquainted by the established field of literature, he takes special care in maintaining balance in his poetry and pens beautiful couplets. He uses such fine words that the rhythm of poetry does not get lost. At some instances, he uses foreign words with such finesse that they seem appropriate to the context. He also uses unfamiliar words but they take shape of poetry. At this juncture, it would be apt to say that compared to the established poets, his choice of words and their incorporation in his poetry has considerably enriched the fabric of urdu poetry. The field of poetry is extremely delicate and does not accept the use of untraditional words but still he has demonstrated how these words can be skillfully incorporated in poetry without losing the rhythm. For once you lose rhythm, the entire effort of creating poetry gets defeated.

‘Parwaze Hayat’ comes as a breath of fresh air in the world of poetry and surprises the reader with its variety!
